Champoux Vineyard
Champoux Vineyards, LLC was formed in 1996 by Paul and Judy Champoux, and a
consortium of the wineries that have been customers for many years. The
vineyard was the old Mercer Ranch Vineyard, planted by Don and Linda Mercer in the
late 70's and early 80's.
Paul has managed the vineyard since
1989 and has improved the quality of this 170 acre vineyard with his
canopy management and nutritional balance.
The vineyard is made up of 101 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon,
5 acres of Chardonnay,
5 acres of Petit Verdot,
7 acres of Lemberger,
30 acres of Riesling,
7 acres of Muscat Canelli,
8 acres of Cabernet Franc,
2 acres of Syrah,
6 acres of Malbec and
10 acres of Merlot.
The member wineries in the LLC are Andrew Will,
Badger Mountain/Powers, Quilceda Creek and Woodward Canyon.
Champoux Vineyard is located in Alderdale, South of Prosser, Washington above the Columbia River.
"If Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard sites in Washington were one day to be
classified, the Phinney Hill block of the Mercer Vineyard would quite
probably lead the list as the Lafite of Washington State."
Gerald Asher, Gourmet Magazine, November 1993
