Drink Now - 2005
We are delighted to announce the release of our 1993 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an exciting new offering for us because this the first time our entire production has been crafted in the highly acclaimed reserve style.
The reserve wines were small experimental lots of Cabernet Sauvignon that were produced in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1992, with several changes in the winemaking process, which we hoped would improve the quality of our wine. The results more than met our expectation and by the time of the 1993 vintage we felt sufficiently confident in our knowledge to craft the entire vintage in the reserve style.
1993 Quilceda Creek has a dark ruby/purple color and an aromatic
profile of black cherry, cedar, smoke, vanilla and spice. Full bodied
and expansive, with a wonderful layered impression on the palate, the
wine is delicious upon release and, because of its structure, should last 15+ years.
1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Washington
"Dark-ruby. Brooding, tangy, slightly high-toned aromas of small
dark berries; suggests a dense wine to come. Rich, supple, and
powerful on the palate, with the density of a black hole.
Serious and substantial. Finishes with powerful fruit that outlasts
tooth-coating tannins and strong acidity. This cabernet does not
offer the immediate appeal of the 92, but should reward extended aging
and may ultimately merit a higher score. In fact, this wine showed
fresh cassis and chocolate flavor after a week recorked in the
refrigerator!"
