Ryan Vas Dias

Accounting Manager
Ryan Vas Dias

When Ryan Vas Dias joined Quilceda Creek in 2020, he found a job that combined two of his passions: finance and wine. As a California native Ryan grew up around wine. It was often on the table at home, and he even learned the fundamentals of winemaking when his grandfather enlisted his help with an old head-pruned, mixed varietal vineyard in Sonoma County. Ryan’s appreciation for the way wine fosters community grew further when he spent a semester abroad in Argentina. “I’d show up at a hostel with some pasta and a bottle of wine. It was really easy to make friends.”

Ryan began his career in accounting at the Palo Alto-based accounting firm, Frank, Rimerman & Co. LLP, where he worked his way up from tax associate to senior tax associate to tax manager over a five-year period. The firm had several small winery clients, primarily family-owned, and Ryan was able to work with several of those accounts. The experience taught him the nuances of wine industry accounting and tax law as it relates to wineries and vineyards. Ryan also found another way to keep his hand in the wine business, working weekends as a wine specialist at Thomas Fogarty Winery in Portola Valley, California. Despite working in the tasting room just a few days a month, Ryan became one of the winery’s top sales associates.

At Quilceda Creek Ryan is part of a small team that runs the accounting and finance side of the winery, including revenue and sales tax reporting, accounts payable and receivable, financing and more. He loves that one of the perks of his job is being able to explore, taste and critique a variety of wines. “There’s a lot to be said for hanging out with people who love wine.”

Ryan earned his B.S. in Commerce from the University of Santa Clara where he majored in accounting and minored in Spanish studies. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed since 2016. Ryan enjoys spending time with family, skiing and traveling.
